Module VII
Implant therapy in the esthetic zone and advanced reconstructive procedures
Summary of the discussed topics:
The positioning of dental implants in aesthetic area is still a major challenge in clinical practice. The clinician must consider a wide range of different surgical concepts and techniques to make the right choice and plan treatment accordingly. The decision to implant immediately while preserving as much peri-implant tissue as possible or to implant in a deferred procedure with reconstruction of missing hard and soft tissues requires a great deal of surgical awareness. In this light, it is also necessary to know the available biomaterials for preserving healthy tissues around the implants.
In module VII, in addition to the principles of implant positioning in the aesthetic zone using subepithelial connective tissue grafts (SCTG), we will define indications for delayed implantation and multidimensional soft tissue reconstruction in edentulous ridges, including pseudogingival papillae. We will present the requirements for predictable bone regeneration and realistic expectations regarding available surgical procedures for specific indications. The principles of working with short implants will also be discussed, which may serve as an alternative to extensive reconstructive procedures in some patients. The practical training will allow participants to practice the necessary steps for implant placement with simultaneous reconstruction of hard and soft tissues in various clinical scenarios, in line with current recommendations.
Topics:
- Immediate implantation: biological basics.
- Immediate implantation in the aesthetic zone with preserved hard and soft tissues.
- Immediate implantation in the aesthetic section for co-occurring hard and soft tissue deficits.
- Implantological treatment in the aesthetic zone in patients with periodontal disease.
- Making a temporary crown and its importance in preserving soft tissue shape.
- Three-dimensional soft tissue reconstruction in the edentulous ridge: connective tissue platform technique (CTP).
- Soft tissue recessions around implants: etiology, diagnostics, treatment protocol, and factors limiting the effectiveness of surgical treatment.
- Use of short implants.
- Bone regeneration: biological basics, surgical techniques, and biomaterials.
- Bone regeneration within the bone envelope and outside the envelope.
- Soft tissue management in bone regeneration procedures.
Practical sessions:
- Implantological treatment planning using hybrid implants (tissue-level).
- Positioning hybrid implants on models, choosing the closing screw, selecting the healing abutment.
- Positioning hybrid implants with soft tissue augmentation using a subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG).
- Three-dimensional soft tissue reconstruction in the edentulous ridge using the connective tissue platform technique (CTP).
