Clinical Case Study 5 - Immediate implant placement in the esthetic zone

20th of December 2022

In instances where tooth extraction must be carried out in the esthetic zone, immediate implant placement is the method of choice, as it allows for preservation of the volume of soft tissues. In the presented case, tooth #11 was selected for extraction due to root fracture. A triangular split-full-split flap was prepared, and the entire root removed. The implant was subsequently positioned using a surgical guide and restored with a temporary crown. A subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) was inserted and stabilized under the flap. The coronally advanced flap was then adapted to the surface of the prosthetic crown. Sutures were removed after fourteen days. After six months, soft tissue conditioning by modifications of the temporary crown. The permanent crown was inserted after twelve months (final photo).
